Four candles burned calmly, melting slowly. In the quiet, I could hear their whispers.

“I am Peace,” said the first. “Sadly, people don’t know how to keep me. I have no reason to burn.” Its flame flickered and went out.

“I am Faith,” said the second. “No one needs me anymore. People don’t want to hear about me, so there’s no point in burning.” A gentle breeze blew, and its flame faded.

The third candle, grieving, spoke: “I am Love, but people neither appreciate nor understand me. I have no strength left to burn.” Its light dimmed and vanished.

Suddenly, a child entered the room and saw the three extinguished candles. Frightened, he cried, “Why aren’t you burning? You’re supposed to give light! I’m afraid of the dark.” Tears streamed down his face.

The fourth candle spoke softly, “Don’t be afraid, and don’t cry. As long as I burn, you can relight the others. I am Hope.”
